Facebook Just Changed to How It Counts Likes

Thurday afternoon Facebook made such annoucement.

This won’t affect your number of likes drastically unless you have a lot of deactiveated users who like your page, or if they have passed away.  According to Facebook, they are making these changes to help businesses have a better undstanding of the actual number of likes to their business page.

Facebook goes on to say in their blog “Over the coming weeks, Page admins should expect to see a small dip in their number of Page likes as a result of this update,” the blog post reads. “It’s important to remember, though, that these removed likes represent people who were already inactive on Facebook.”

Facebook also notes that if a user reactivates an account and Liked a particular Page, that action will be tallied back into the total like count.

In the long run, I could see this being beneficial because companies do focus on the popularity of their page and the type of audience they have.
